We just finished up a concrete overlay of an entire basketball half court for the Delta Tau Delta fraternity at the University of Arizona. This project took about five days, but a rainy day in the middle slowed down our progress somewhat. On this project, we started out by prepping the concrete, which is something we do for every job, and then put down a coat of white concrete where the lines would go - and then covered them to protect them from the yellow and purple. We had special ordered color to match the fraternity's purple and yellow (we don't use those colors very often!) for the main court colors. After getting the lines down, we installed the base purple and yellow colors with a concrete overlay skim coat and then we sprayed the purple texture coat on to make a non-slip surface. We installed a concrete-grade vinyl decal created for us by
Innovative Signs of Tucson next, and then covered it up and sprayed the texture coat on the yellow portion. Finally we removed the tape covering the decal and the white lines and sealed everything, adding a non-slip additive to the sealer that went over the vinyl decal.
This job was challenging, but a lot of fun! The fraternity members that we spoke to all loved the finished product and we have to admit, we were pretty excited ourselves about the way it turned out!
